BIG LEAGUE'S POWER RANKINGS

1. TRUE BLUE SIGMAS
The Back 2 Back National Invitational Tournament Champions survived a close match up in week one against THE Alphas. True Blue was lead by Wesley "The Champ" Williams (12pts), Todd "MVP" Wilson (16 pts), and Tre Walker (16pts). Walker's four 3-Pointers in the Second half proved to be one of the difference makers and key ingredients leading to the teams last second game tying basket. This True Blue squad has been tough to beat over the last 2 years and one thing is for certain; no lead is to great for them to figure out a way to get a "W".
2. THE GORILLAS
Are the Gorillas for real this season? The team suited six and that proved to be enough to dispose of the GOMAB squad of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.. All six players scratch and contributed in the 16 point blowout. The Gorillas leading scorer Tedric Williams (25pts) received offensive support from Chuck Nixon (20pts). Williams also had a league tying four 3-pointers from the field. I won't pencil this squad into the championship game just yet; this is the same squad that got off to a fast start last year only to surrender the crown to THE Alphas by seasons end. I say again, "ARE THE GORILLAS FOR REAL THIS SEASON?"
3. THE DESERT QUES
*Cue George Clinton's Atomic Dog now* THE QUUUUUUEEEESSSSS! Spotted the LA Kappas 15 at one point of the game Saturday. Its clear the Ques inside game and brute physicality proved to much for the Kappas. Lead by the sharp shooting of Ed Campbell (21pts w/ three 3-pointers), the all around game of Ernie "I GET BUCKETS" Burries (13pts), and Sloan "Show Biz" Baptiste (14pts). Coach Diff announced during Frat Games radio, "The Bruhs are focused and here to claim the title" Message is clear... don't count the bruhs out ... count them ALL-IN for the Championship. #ButCanTheyWinACloseGameWithouta3to1FreeThrowAdvantage
4. THE ALPHAS
The Alphas suffered an overtime lost to the Back 2 Back NIT Champion True Blue Sigmas. Despite outstanding scoring efforts by Morris Davis (16pts) and Eric Wipple (18pts) THE Alphas found it difficult to closeout the Mighty True Blue. THE Alphas look to bounce back against the Nupes with the expected return of Darnell "DPo" Porter and Christian Keyes. Much like the Gorillas; THE Alphas have been in this position same time last year.... will the same results come about?
5. THE KAPPAS
The Kappas started out strong in the first half but their freshmen big men proved to be out matched against the Desert Ques; how else do you explain a blown 15 point lead? To the Kappas credit; they are a team capable of bouncing back and finding themselves playing for a championship. The Kappas have competed for every championship except one over the last two years. Leading scores for the Kappas were Jeff "Mr. Everything" Dolliole (22pts) and Albert Jones (9pts). The outstanding guard play of Dolliole and Veteran All-Star Justin "J-Wig, The Pride of Dallas" Wiggins is a noticeable advantage for this team. Once their "bigs" step up to the challenge, you can expect the Kappas to be playing for yet another opportunity to capture the crown.
6. GOMAB
GOMAB was not sure if they would compete this year but two days before the league registration deadline; the GOMAB team came to play. Unfortunately, they drew THE ALPHAS as their first match of the season. Despite strong scoring efforts by Kenneth Mosely (20pts) and Brandon Allen (12pts) the Sigmas could only muster 18 points from the remaining players on their roster. On the upside, new uniforms are said to be displayed at the April 14th game and the GOMAB can abandon the "pop warner passing league" uniforms worn Saturday. #RespectYourTeam #RepYourOrg
7. NUPES
Who are these NUPES? Who are these NUPES? Time will tell. Some would argue after a 10 point victory over the Iotas, the Nupes would be ranked higher with other teams that claimed wins during week one.... Slow down Son! I am still trying to figure out if the IOTAS played out of their minds or did the NUPES play that bad? I don't have an answer therefore, the jury is still out on this NUPES squad. The NUPES suited 10 players and unlike the GOMAB squad "looked oh so pretty" in their new uniforms. However, when five of your players fail to scratch in the stats book; what conclusion can I draw? Jermaine Jamison scored 21pts, Jeff Miles 11pts, and a solid 12pts by Ricky Collins but that's where the noticeable contributions ended. NUPES get a win on the 14th and you will move of the charts. Until then... Shimmy Shimmy Coco Puffs.
8. The IOTAS
The IOTAS competed very hard Saturday. No they were out right impressive (not counting the lack of uniformity in game attire). The IOTAS suited 5 players and captured the lead against the NUPE team at the 11:30 and 6:30 marks of the second half. The lack of substitutions appeared to wear the IOTA team down in the end. The Iotas was lead by the efforts of Rayshawn Gaylas (20pts), Shannon Penn (10pts), and Daimon Elemins (13pts). The IOTAS have gone on record as saying, "Every team is going to have to play us to the end...this ain't an easy win" Keep fighting IOTAS and GET SOME DAMN UNIFORMS! #AtleastWearTheSameT-Shirt!
